You see it in the movies. You see it on TV. Maybe even one or two of your friends has said it happened to them.
“It” is this scene: A Realtor opens the door to a home for sale and steps aside. The eager, but cautious, couple steps in the door. They hesitate and take in the first impression of the home. Then one turns to the other as if he or she just
spotted a lost puppy and wants to take it home and says, “Oh, honey, it’s perfect.”
Really? Is it perfect?
Is any house ever really perfect?
If there is a perfect house out there, it takes time to find it. But lately, all the talk about home buying has been about hurrying to beat the April 30th deadline as if a four-digit refund check is more important than years of comfort in your new home.
We recently wrote about why it’s still a great time to buy even after May 1. One reason we didn’t mention is that you can take the time you need to really consider what your perfect house would look like. And we have the perfect resource to help you do just that. From the tools and resources page, scroll down and click on the Home Planning Worksheet, which is a printable PDF that will help you think through all the ways your family uses your current home and plan ahead for a move up.
Don’t look for the perfect home, build it.
The Home Planning Worksheet is an excellent resource to bring with you when you visit one of our sales centers in Richmond or Hampton Roads. Our representatives can use it to get a sense of which rooms you use most often and how you use them, and that information can help them point you in the direction of the right model for you.
Further, the worksheet is a great item to bring with you to your selections meeting after you’ve got a purchase agreement in place. Occasionally, our buyers find themselves with a nagging feeling on selection day that they’ve forgotten something
important. With a record like this of how you want your home to function, you can make smart choices and maximize your budget.
So if you’ve been thinking about building your dream home, there’s no better time than now to start planning it out. If you’re already living in your dream home, we want to hear the stories of how you found it and all the reasons you love it.
