Supporting the Jeter and Sharp Families

On June 6, 2011, tragedy struck a Mechanicsville, Virginia family. A massive fire broke out in the garage of the Jeter home while their son was working on his truck in the garage. Before fire, police and rescue could arrive, the house was engulfed in flames, and the fire was spreading to their neighbor’s home. Luckily, everyone was able to get out of the house in time, including the family dog, and no one was seriously injured.

The house was declared a total loss and the Jeters are now renting until their lot is cleared and they can start to rebuild. While they were able to find and salvage a few personal items, the vast majority of what was in the house was completely destroyed by the fire.  The Sharp family who lived next door to the Jeters also suffered terrible damage to their home and have been displaced.

Response from the community has been simply tremendous. Numerous organizations and individuals have stepped up to help the Jeters and Sharps recover from the fire that took their houses from them. From lemonade stands put on by neighborhood children to financial and clothing donations to  emotional support from family and friends, it’s the type of response that makes the Mechanicsville and Richmond community a special place to live. At StyleCraft, we are pleased to be able to provide the Jeter family with a new gas grill and set of grilling tools to enjoy at their rental house until it can be moved into their new home.

While the reaction of our community has been incredible so far, the Jeters and Sharps have a long road of rebuilding ahead of them. If you’d like to help, a PO Box has been set up to accept donations. That information is below. Meals can also be donated through http://www.takethemameal.com/meals.php?t=OBGC6864.
