Homeowner Tips
Homebuying 101: Tips, Resources & More
Homebuying doesn’t have to be hard. In fact, at StyleCraft Homes, we go to great lengths to ensure that it’s simple, transparent, and enjoyable — from your Model Home tour to closing and beyond.
Whether you’re making the selections that will bring your home together in our Design Studio or getting a weekly progress update from your New Home Sales Consultant, you’ll find that we’ve built a positively memorable experience.
Of course, part of this is up to you. By taking the time to do familiarize yourself with our people and processes, we think you’ll find your StyleCraft building experience to Live Up beyond your expectations.
Get the Lay of the Land
StyleCraft is a family-owned, local homebuilder — but don’t think for a second that limits where, what, and how you can build in the Greater Richmond area. We think it’s important to take a moment to get to know us before you dive into the homebuying process. And there are a few ways you can make this happen:
Learn about the communities where we’re building (including locations, floor plans, amenities, and more)
Meet Your Team
If you haven’t learned by now, we’re extremely proud of the team we’ve built at StyleCraft. In fact, we believe they’re the best in the homebuilding business. Part of this is simply our dedication to hiring great people — those who share our values and passion for putting people in their ideal home. We’ve also designed a culture in which close collaboration with homebuyers comes naturally, and hand-offs from one team member to another occur seamlessly. We encourage you to learn more about the people who will be standing by your side at the various checkpoints and milestones throughout your buying and building experience.
Make the Most of Model Home Tours
We’ve worked hard to create a variety of ways in which homebuyers can visit our Model Homes (and Quick Move-In Homes). Whether you’re more comfortable popping in during regular hours, taking a virtual tour, or even scheduling a private tour experience, you have options with StyleCraft. We suggest that by doing a little homework before your visit — such as exploring Model Home floor plans and features — you’ll find that this critical first impression can go a long way in determining the right home for you.
Study Up on Floor Plans
We just mentioned floor plans, those detailed blueprints that are full of important information about our homes. Our architecture team creates these so you can get a more detailed look at the spaces comprising a particular home. Of course, floor plans are only helpful if you know how to read them. We’ve put together a primer (or a refresher if you’ve built a home before) sharing how best to read these plans, what various markings and symbols signify, and some of the questions you should be asking to determine if a floor plan is the right fit for you.
Learn (And Trust) the Process
As we’ve mentioned before — and maybe even more than once — we are dedicated to building transparency with our homebuyers. One way we do this is by sharing all of the buying and building milestones from the get-go. This way, we eliminate surprises and confusion. This knowledge also empowers homebuyers to approach the process in a more proactive way. But in order to take advantage of all the benefits that come with knowing the building experience, you need to learn them first.
Peek Ahead at Homeowner Maintenance
Just because you haven’t closed on your home yet doesn’t mean you shouldn’t start learning about suggested home maintenance, specific to StyleCraft. There are two areas you should focus on: your home warranty and upkeep you’re responsible for as a homeowner. And it’s important to know which type of repair and fixes fall on the homeowner vs. the homebuilder. When it comes to the StyleCraft Warranty Program, you’ll find that our team knows your home inside and out. That’s because we have an in-house Warranty Team comprised of people who know your home inside and out. Compare this to other homebuilders, which outsource this function to third parties working on any number of builders’ homes.
As for staying on top of appliances, plumbing, and everything else under (and including) your roof, we have plenty of resources to help you get the job done. We recommend opening up your Homeowner’s Guide to Chapter 9, “Caring for your Home,” where you’ll find maintenance and troubleshooting tips for everything from the air-conditioning thermostats to wood trim.
At StyleCraft, we’ve made it our goal to create a homebuying process that’s easy, drama free, and even fun. By taking a little time to review these tips and advice, you’ll start and finish the homebuying journey confident that your successful homebuying experience will lead to a successful homeownership experience, too.
