Richmond Slated to Be Among Top Housing Markets in 2025. Here’s Why.

January 13, 2025

The idea that Richmond, VA is poised to be a top housing market in 2025 shouldn’t come as a total shock.

There have been signs: double-digit growth in new home sales over the past year, anecdotal evidence from homebuilders and real estate agents, and even a growing number of accolades from top-flight publications.

So, let’s just call it a welcome surprise when we saw that Richmond, or RVA, was slotted as the No. 4 hottest housing market for 2025 by Realtor.com.

But what does it mean for Richmond homebuyers and how is StyleCraft preparing to meet the demand? We’re glad you asked.

Inside Housing Market Numbers

What does it mean to be a top 5 housing market? For Richmond, it means that 2025 existing home sales are expected to grow 22 percent vs. 2024 homes sales, according to Realtor.com projections.

And it’s part of a movement. Not only are all the markets predicted to see the biggest increases located in the West and South — including top 3 markets Colorado Springs, Miami, and neighboring Virginia Beach — but they’re seeing much of the market increase driven by both younger homebuyers and new-construction homes.

It’s those very new-construction homebuilders that will need to meet the heightened demand for homes this year.

How StyleCraft Plans to Meet the Moment

We don’t have a crystal ball or psychic powers, but we do have a keen sense of the Richmond housing market from decades of experience focused exclusively on RVA and the surrounding counties.

And we’re ready to accommodate the rising ride of homebuyers in a number of ways.

“It’s an exciting time to be a homebuilder in Richmond,” said Richard Kuhn, Founder and President of StyleCraft Homes.

“Between expansions to our existing communities, and three new communities launching in 2025 — communities boasting geographic diversity and a range of price points — we are embracing the increased demand for new-construction homes,” Kuhn added. “We believe that all Richmond homebuyers, whether they’re stepping up to their first home purchase or downsizing to a 55-plus community, will find floor plans and communities that Live Up to their lifestyles and preferences.”

StyleCraft communities coming online in 2025 include:

  • The Crossings at Mulberry in Henrico, ideal for those seeking to build their first or next home.
  • Pomeroy Park in New Kent, featuring single-family, estate-style homes.
  • Hickory Grove in Hanover, with single-family homes designed for Active-Adults.

In addition, a number of popular existing communities have available Quick Move-In Homes, which enable homebuyers to move in without the wait, including Mason Yards and The Overlook at Hancock Village.

Richmond’s Rising Reputation

Richmond’s latest turn in the spotlight as a predicted Top 5 housing market is just the latest feather in its cap. Earlier this year, RVA made headlines as CNN’s Best Town to Visit in America. The coverage highlighted its intriguing neighborhoods, including Scott’s Addition, the go-to downtown destination for eating and drinking — and home to StyleCraft communities The Outpost at Brewers Row and Mason Yards.

Add Virginia earning CNBC’s Top State for Business honors for the sixth year, as well as Realtor.com including Richmond in its Top 15 Best Places to Live for Quality of Life, and it’s clear to see that Richmond’s profile has been on the rise.

By all accounts, both 2023 and 2024 were huge years for StyleCraft, having been named Richmond’s Home Builder of the Year and celebrating its 25th anniversary by expanding its Lakeside corporate HQ, accordingly. But now 2025 is poised to be even bigger.

“If the numbers and predictions pan out as we expect, this year will unfold as among the most dynamic in Richmond real estate and homebuilding history,” StyleCraft’s Kuhn said. “We’re ready to play our part and help homebuyers in every way we can.”
