You Asked, We Answered. New Construction FAQ
September 2, 2021
When it comes to helping you understand our approach to new home construction, we open all the doors and windows. We even knock down the walls.
We’re totally transparent so that you can easily find all the information to, first, decide whether pursuing new construction vs. a resale home is right for you. And if you choose to build from the ground up, we want you to have a clear picture of how we do things a little differently (and a lot better, we believe).
On that note, we’ve taken some time to prepare and share answers to your most frequently asked questions — FAQ, if you will. Have a look, and if you don’t see what you’re looking for, we encourage you to reach out to us today.
QUESTION: HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO BUILD MY NEW HOME?
ANSWER: Yes, this is often the biggest question first-time, new-construction buyers ask us. It’s tough to give one answer that works for everyone because there are a lot of factors that go into determining a specific timeframe — including sales pace, community development, availability of materials, weather, etc. However, we usually estimate between 6-7 months for construction to be completed on a home from groundbreaking to closing. But time can fly when you’re building a home; especially when you’re engaged in the process (as you will be with StyleCraft). If you don’t want to wait that long, we have Quick Move-In Homes that provide all the benefits of new construction, within an expedited timeframe.
QUESTION: I LOVE YOUR MODEL HOMES. WILL MY HOME LOOK LIKE THAT?
ANSWER: This is entirely up to you! While we build our Model Homes to give you a solid idea of what your new home will look like, you choose the floor plan, the design package (for Gateway Homes) or the design studio features (for Expressions and Freestyle Homes), and make other decisions that can impact whether your new home is a ringer for that Model Home(s) you walked through.
QUESTION: CAN I USE A REALTOR?
ANSWER: While you’re not required to have a realtor to buy and build your new-construction home, we will certainly welcome your Realtor into the homebuying & building experience alongside you. The choice is yours! Keep in mind that our on-site New Home Sales Consultants are dedicated to being by your side from the time you sign on the dotted line, to the time you close. They are the friendly folks you’ll first see when you visit our Model Home, and you’ll be in constant communication with them throughout your homebuying experience. Also, it’s probably a good time to mention that when it comes to finding the right Realtor to sell your existing home, we have well-vetted partners that we highly recommend.
QUESTION: HOW WILL I KNOW WHEN TO MAKE DESIGN SELECTIONS FOR MY NEW HOME?
ANSWER: We get this question a lot — because let’s be honest — it’s the most fun part of the homebuilding experience. That said, because of StyleCraft’s transparent, well-communicated approach to homebuilding, there are no surprises or guessing games. You’ll follow a roadmap, showing you at what point construction will start, when your design experience will begin, and when you’ll go through other key milestones. At the time of your contract, your New Home Sales Consultant will schedule your Design Studio Appointment (Expressions & Freestyle), or will start the process of helping you select your Design Package (Gateway).
QUESTION: HOW DO I FINANCE MY NEW HOME?
ANSWER: Remember those friends we have in the real estate community? Well, we have trusted partners in finance, too. We meet these Preferred Lenders on a weekly basis to ensure everything is on track with our homebuyers’ loans. They know the best products for our homebuyers, and together, we can streamline the financing process. We encourage you to take a moment and learn all the benefits of working with our Preferred Lenders.
QUESTION: CAN I MAKE CHANGES TO MY HOME & FLOOR PLAN, BASED ON THE ROOMS I NEED?
ANSWER: It’s our goal that all our homes Live Up for every family and lifestyle. In the same way you don’t want to live in a cookie-cutter home, we don’t want to build one, either. With that in mind, we have approved Structural Options to accommodate your preferences with each floor plan. One of our New Home Sales Consultant can demonstrate how this works. Or you can begin on your own — right here and right now — by checking out any of our Interactive Floor Plans. Simply choose a community to get started!
